VISUALIZING STORIES OF RED THINGS IN THE NIGHT
I did some thinking and decided that most of the story, (stories) will take place in the night time.
I remember once as a child looking out our living room window with several of my siblings. Up in the night sky was a strange streak of green glow, just, up there. It was a bit haunting because we didn't know what it was. Thinking back, we did live near Moffet Field, a military airport which was in Sunnyvale, north of us, and next to it was the NASA Ames Aeronautical Laboratory. Strange things end up in the sky when you live near places like that.
For my film, why not a red glow? Perhaps it is the remnant energy of the dragon whipping through the air.
I want there to be the possible mystery of something, yet also an obvious explanation like some military or science activity, but haunting just the same. (For me, The Beast mentioned in the Apocalypse, I sometimes wonder - "Is it technology?") Perhaps we create the beast, like Frankenstien, or the beast thrives off of our electrical energies. The Beast is, in the end, disconnection.
I usually draw my films and videos rather than write them. I like to see the visual possibilities right away and then respond to them with other visuals.
These storyboards (featured on this page) are done quickly. I'm putting down in drawings what I wouldn't be able to write down as effectively with the amount of time.
